SPOT in Mali | the live-session & panel discussion of African artists during SPOT 2025
Suaré Virginie Dembélé from Bamako, Mali, visited the SPOT Festival in Aarhus, Denmark, in May 2025 and gave 10 concerts in Denmark and Sweden during her visit. As part of her stay, she held a talk and mini-concert at Basho Records in central Aarhus, featuring musical examples and reflections on why Mali has historically produced so many major stars who have gained international recognition.
The talk included contributions from Danish-Malian musician Moussa Diallo and Danish guitarist (among other roles) Mikas Bøgh. Dembélé was selected to perform at SPOT 25 following the SPOT on Mali Festival in Mali in 2024, which is modeled after the Aarhus-based SPOT concept and has been supported for ten years by the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus.
