Visual documentation of SPOR Festival — an international festival for contemporary music and sound art, unfolding across Aarhus and Central Denmark. Collaboration lasting since 2023.
SPOR Festival is one of Scandinavia’s key platforms for experimental music and sound art, operating at the intersection of composition, performance, installation, and public space. The brief wasn’t promotion in a classic sense, but documentation with sensitivity: capturing atmosphere, spatial relationships, and the quiet intensity of listening. The underlying question was how to visually communicate sound-driven work — often abstract, fragile, and site-specific — while respecting the artists, audiences, and the festival’s curatorial integrity.
That's why, the rhythm was dictated by the works themselves — long takes where possible, avoiding spectacle, embracing stillness. Collaboration with curators and production teams was essential, ensuring access without intrusion. Constraints such as low light, silence, and audience proximity were treated not as limitations but as defining conditions shaping the visual outcome. Sound awareness informed every decision, even when working purely with image.
The material lives across SPOR Festival’s digital platforms, archives, and communication channels, supporting both immediate outreach and long-term documentation.
